Columbia student Mahmoud Khalil is free after 104 days in ICE custody. A federal judge ruled his detention unlawful, rejecting repeated attempts by the Trump administration to keep him locked up. At a powerful “Welcome Home” rally in New York City, Khalil spoke out about the brutal conditions inside the detention center and the solidarity that kept him going. “I was crowded with hundreds who were told their existence is illegal,” he said. “In those moments, I remembered a chant that gave me strength: I believe that we will win.” Now back with his community, Khalil joins classmates, family, and fellow organizers to demand an end to Trump’s mass deportation agenda, the genocide in Gaza, and the escalating US-Israeli war on Iran.
